a little about me
Based in Melbourne’s south east, I consider myself a quiet achieving design all rounder who honestly just is super grateful to get to do what I do every day.
Where it started
Honestly, it took a minute to get here. When I finished school I wasn’t too sure what I wanted to do so I enrolled in a Diploma of Marketing at Swinburne. I figured out around half way through that it wasn’t really for me but I stuck it out because I still wasn’t sure what else I would do.
A funny thing happened when my sister and her partner tricked me into going to an open day at Shillington college under the guise we were meeting a colleague of his there and then all going for dumplings. I was hooked the second the lecturer started showing examples of students work.
I enrolled the next day and the rest is history.
How I got here
It’s been an evolution for sure but it’s been a smoother process than I’m sure some have gone through. I started out with an agency in Carlton doing some work experience… 12 years later I finally moved on. I loved that team, they were instrumental in me figuring out who I was as a designer and colleague and still to this day they are some of my favourite people who are the first to offer help if I get stumped.
I took a little detour and was the marketing coordinator/traffic manager/extra designer/sometimes photographer at a global essential oil company for a bit then jumped straight back into agency land on the Mornington Peninsula where I started flexing those photography muscles a little more between all the design work.
What I do now
After a minute I finished up with the agency and studied User experience and User interface design which was challenging but exciting and a lot of fun.
I was offered a position as the Senior designer for a research institute surrounded by incredible people doing life changing things and I have the privilege of being the custodian of the brand, art directing and executing the path forward through traditional design and brand development, digital design, UX/UI, photography and animation.
Coocachuu happens on the side along with freelance work and is a place I can explore, experiment, play and further develop all them skills I’ve acquired over the years.
I work with a handful of incredible freelance clients and get to exercise any and all of my creative muscles all the time. It keeps me busy but its a lot of fun and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
P.S My profile pic was taking by the incredibly talented and dear friend of mine Kerryn.
