A Saturday foiled...

My Saturday was spent in the beautiful Pan After store off Franklin Street with the amazing peaches and keen who taught a class full of eager, lovely women the tips and tricks they use when they foil there prints and pot plants. The day run by the wonderful Max from the school who made us the tastiest Mexican treats that helped us get in the spirit for foiling the cacti that we had all painted.

Well Hello May...

I was an incredibly lucky girl yesterday, the beautiful bridal magazine hello may wrote a lovely blog post on me on their site, these girls find the best in all areas of the industry and I'm so fortunate for their kind words, the fact that they like what I do and their desire to support newbies that are just finding their way. If you haven't picked up any of their issues before, do yourself a favour and grab the next one that's out in the next few weeks, you won't be disappointed by the quality or content, I owe a massive thank you to Sophie and her team for producing something so gorgeous and letting me be a small part of it.

A Big Design Weekend...

The weekend that just past was a big event on the markets calendar, the Big Design Market is an annual market that gathers some incredible and diverse talent under one roof. This year was bigger and better than ever, it had over 200 stall holders from Australia and New Zealand, plenty of food, drinks and activities to keep everybody entertained all under the beautiful roof of The Royal Exhibition Building. There were so many happy christmas shoppers who got the chance to peak to the people that make all the incredible products and it was non stop from the the doors opened till they closed and stragglers were shuffled out the doors, but it was such an incredible event to be apart of.

A foray into freelance...

I made a decision earlier this year to try my luck with some freelance invitation work, and my very first client turned out to be an absolute delight who wanted letterpress (insert excitement here) this invitation suite was for the lovely Victoria, who came to me with clear ideas of what she wanted to end product to reflect and was such a cruisy lady to work with throughout the whole process that the whole experience was so much fun, and I was so wrapped with the outcome.

It must be love...

I'm pretty happy this one worked out, I wasn't really sure what I was doing, how long it would take or what it was going to look like, but it all worked out in the end (I think). I first saw this done (on a much larger and more impressive scale) by the incredibly talented Marsha Golemac and thought I would give it a go for my beautiful friends Jess and Chris for their engagement party on the weekend, it took a few weeks of sitting in front of the television (with help from my sister) folding tissue paper flowers and sticking them down well into the hours of the night for this one to come full circle and as tingly as my fingers were after finishing it, I would do it again for her in a heart beat. xx

Who doesn't love a good workshop...

I've just finished up a 4 week workshop with the incredibly talent Abby Seymour. In the classes we learnt how to hand form and paint porcelain beads and vessels and Abby fired them for us (everyone's projects looked amazing). Keep checking Abby's website for new workshop dates, it was lots of fun and it's nice to hop off the computer every once in awhile and get your hands dirty.

There will be so many ridiculously talented people selling there products and you won't be disappointed by what you get to see. Check out thebigdesignmarket.com for all the details or their pinterest boards for a list of stallholders and some of the things they make.
